Summer Fayre
Last week, The Skills Hub and Young People’s Academy had their annual Summer Fayre. Although it was a little cloudy in the morning, we had beautiful sunshine for the afternoon and we managed to miss the rain! We had a range of activities from virtual computer games to bucking broncho, and there were a number of stalls to help raise funds.
Special guests for the day included Bikers Against Child Abuse (B.A.C.A). B.A.C.A has been established in the USA over 20 years and in the UK for nearly six years. All members undertake continual training and development in working with children, and in particular those with a history of abuse (physical, emotional, sexual and domestic). Their focus is on empowering the child to realise how powerful they can become. After their dramatic entrance to the fayre, they literally came roaring in, it soon became apparent that they were the star attraction of the day.
Laurie Cornwell. Executive Headteacher at The Skills Hub and Young People’s Academy. said “The Summer Fayre provided an opportunity for students, staff and parents from both schools to get together and celebrate their successes and achievements this academic year. The weather did not deter the festivities. A good day was had by all and we are all looking forward to next year”.
