The Skills Hub (TSH) is a co-educational Alternative Provision (AP) that caters for students in the London Borough of Hillingdon who cannot attend mainstream school for a variety of reasons, predominantly permanent exclusion.
This section provides key information including how the school spends the funding it receives, its policies and procedures, how students perform in exams and assessment, inspection information and the schools self-evaluation.
The Skills Hub provides full-time education for children as an interim arrangement while appropriate substantive placements are being secured or a child is deemed ready to return to their mainstream school
We want to make your experience at The Skills Hub about much more than simply your curriculum.
Parents and carers are the most important people in the lives of our students. In order for our work to be successful, we depend very much on their co-operation.
The Skills Hub has teamed up with the people and pets from Canine Assisted Learning to support young people to manager their own emotions, their well-being and their learning with the help of Fern, a specially trained dog.
Fern and her owner Angela visit the school every Wednesday, and work with groups of children and on a 1-1 basis. The young people have fully embraced this activity and keen to build a relationship with Fern.
All of the young people involved have commented how spending time with Fern makes them feel better, happier and more able to achieve their potential.
This is an ongoing project, and we are excited to continue to evaluate the effectiveness of the time the young people have engaging with Canine Assisted Learning.
