Support Programmes

1:1 (Pupil Support Team)

An individualised programme for students who cannot attend school for a variety of reasons. 1:1 tuition is provided in a suitable setting such as at home, hospital, the local library or young people’s centres. The outline of the programme is very much tailored to the needs of the student and their circumstances.

Reflect and Review

An individualised programme for pupils who have received a fixed term exclusion from their mainstream school.

This can be for a minimum of just 1 day to a maximum of 45 days.

Students will be given support to reflect on the reasons for their exclusion and will be given strategies in order to avoid further exclusions.

Development Programme

A programme for students who require a far more personalised package than a mainstream school can offer.

In addition to an academic students also attend therapeutic groups, receive mentoring and attend Parent and Child sessions.

Reintegration Station

The emphasis of the programme is to provide academic and therapeutic support for students undergoing transition following a permanent exclusion.

At the beginning of the programme students complete academic, cognitive and behaviour assessments in order to ascertain their baselines and decide on the best way forward. It may be decided that the student needs more formal assessment via an Educational Psychologist.

A holistic and systematic approach is used to engage not only the student but also their families and other stakeholders. As well as following an academic programme, students receive psychological therapy, attend parent and child sessions and receive mentoring.

‘Key Performance Indicators’ measure outcomes of the programme and help to create behaviour plans and strategies. Students can attend the programme for a maximum of 12 weeks after which it will be decided whether or not they are suitable for reintegration into a mainstream school with the support of our Reintegration Officer or better suited for a development programme within the main Centre.

Tools 4 School

Tools 4 School is a holistic educational and therapeutic programme for students at risk of permanent exclusion. Students enter into the programme at the beginning of a term or half term in order to follow a minimum 6 week or a maximum of 12 weeks programme.

At the beginning of the programme students complete academic, cognitive and behaviour assessments in order to ascertain their baselines and decide on the best way forward.

It is holistic in that we seek to engage the whole of the student as the causes of challenging behaviour stem from complex psycho-social factors. Therefore, in addition to an academic programme students also attend therapeutic groups, receive mentoring and attend Parent and Child sessions.

We explore the systems around the student by working with external agencies, their mainstream school and other stakeholders to bring a consistent approach.

Progress is assessed via ‘Key Performance Indicators’ which measure outcomes of the programme and helps to create behaviour plans and strategies which are fed back to the student’s mainstream school and their parents. Support is also available to assist in reintegration back to mainstream school.
