The Skills Hub has teamed up with the people and pets from Canine Assisted Learning to support young people to manager their own emotions, their well-being and their learning with the help of Ferne, a specially trained dog.
Ferne and her owner Angela visit the school every Wednesday, and work with groups of children and on a 1-1 basis. The young people have fully embraced this activity and keen to build a relationship with Ferne.
All of the young people involved have commented how spending time with Fern makes them feel better, happier and more able to achieve their potential.
This is an ongoing project, and we are excited to continue to evaluate the effectiveness of the time the young people have engaging with Canine Assisted Learning.
