Heron Lake
The annual water sports day took place in July, at Heron Lake. All staff and students were invited and as luck would have it, the weather was lovely and stayed dry. This meant that we were able to conduct the whole school day in the great outdoors.
The attendance was very good and we ended up taking more students than ever before. The behaviour was first class and all students were very patient, when waiting their turn to ride the speed boat.
The activities on offer included, swimming, kayaking, water slide and banana boat rides. There was also a BBQ, cooked by the staff, for all who attended.
We ended up taking a couple of non-swimmers with us, who ended up ‘braving it’ going into or onto the lake and conquering their fears, with the support of staff and students around them.
It was really good to see the staff and students in a social setting, extending their skills and appreciation of one another. There are some things that a formal class lesson cannot teach and many lessons were learnt and enforced on this special day for all.
We are keen to run another trip, such as this, in this academic year, as it embraces and embeds all the PRIDE Values we hold so dear.
