A broad and balanced curriculum offer that provides a reflective, explorative and stimulating approach to developing strategies for permanently excluded pupils/students and those on the verge of being excluded to become effective, lifelong learners.

The aim is to provide a wide range of knowledge, skills and experiences. The curriculum is to be delivered using Quality First Teaching ensuring that the delivery is differentiated to match the aptitude and ability of each pupil/student to promote engagement, success and progression.

Subject matter to be relevant and maximise the pupils/students’ cultural capital within their wider personal, social and emotional development. Teaching will build in a systematic way upon prior learning to make the whole learning experience meaningful and relevant.

A curriculum to support pupils/students to be resilient, use critical thinking within the world around them, to keep them safe and ensure that there is equality of opportunity for all. This will be underpinned by a full range of core, non-core and enrichment subjects to provide pupils/students with access to engaging and meaningful learning.

In conjunction with providing a broad and balanced curriculum offer, a trauma informed approach will be used to ensure that the student’s emotional and psychological needs are addressed. This will include and a holistic approach that identifies the underlying cause of behaviours instead of focusing only on challenging behaviour to provide a safe and supportive environment for students.
