We were delighted that so many friends and supporters of The Skills Hub were able to join us in celebrating the awarding of the Trauma & Mental Health Informed School Award. Receiving this award signifies a significant moment in The Skills Hub’s history.

Paul Chambers, Principal, said, “Becoming a Trauma & Mental Health Informed School signifies a milestone for us. We are dedicated to ensuring that every child feels safe, protected, and nurtured within our school community. Our commitment extends to aligning all policies and procedures with a compassionate, trauma-informed approach.”

Students spoke to guests from other local schools, the London Borough of Hillingdon and Orchard Hill College Academy Trust, about their experience.

Student M: “I feel like staff really care and are always ready to help me.”

Student E: “The staff have given me support and built me a better future.”

Student B: “I feel staff care about me as a whole person and I am proud to call The Skills Hub my school”

Laurie Cornwell, Deputy CEO of Orchard Hill College & Academy Trust, said: “I am proud to be here today: it is the start of a very exciting chapter and one I am very proud to be part of.”

Chair of governors, Suzi Challenger, presented the award plaque to Mr Chambers and said, “This award has codified and put a recognisable badge onto something that staff and students do here every day.”

Finally Mr Chambers thanked staff and supporters of the school and paid special tribute to Andrew Fuller, Trauma Informed Practitioner, and Pouname Khaira, Assistant Principal who have driven through the accreditation process.
